PAC Systems™

Cooling Systems for Power Plants have to work under different ambient conditions: They must be able to handle cold temperatures in winter times and have to be able to handle peak loads under hot summer  onditions. Laying out an Air Cooled Condenser for peak load handling would mean an oversizing for normal operating conditions. The solutions provided by GEA is the PAC system:

A Synergy of established technologies Dry plus Wet cooling Systems.

The system consists of:

• The Air Cooled condenser

• The Surface Condenser

• Optionally a Wet Cooling Tower

The turbine steam is condensed in the Air Cooled condenser under normal ambient temperatures and as soon as the temperatures reach a higher level, a part of the steam is condensed in an additional surface condenser which will be water cooled. For the water cooling a wet cooling tower or other existing utilities may be used.
